One of the great things about going off to University is being out from under the thumb of one’s parents, so there is a lot more freedom to be able to enjoy life. University balls and parties are held pretty much every weekend, giving the students the chance to blow off steam at the end of a long week of classes. Being able to throw a good party will definitely earn you fame among your fellow students.
In the spirit of good fun, here are a few great party ideas for you to consider for your university balls and fiestas: You might also like to check out our University Function planning checklist.
Black Light Graffiti
This party theme is supremely unique, and it can be a bit naughty as well. The theme of the party is graffiti, so everyone will need to come dressed up in a plain white T-shirt that they don’t mind drawing on. The party room will need to be filled with black light, and as soon as the music starts the main lights are shut off – leaving only the black lights.
On every table, there will be a number of highlighters, which everyone will use to draw on their T-shirts and bodies. Everyone has to draw graffiti on the other members of the party, and it will be a creative way to help the attendees break the ice with each other.
If you really want to get creative with the graffiti theme, cover the walls in paper and let the guests decorate the walls in highlighter, spray paint, and laundry detergent (it shines in the dark). Talk about a crazy idea – but it’s a whole lot of fun!
The Ancient Romans certainly had one thing right: togas can be a whole lot of fun – when they’re not falling off. For the costume, all your guests will need is a bedsheet and some safety pins. It’s a costume that anyone can create in a few minutes, and it will be a whole lot of fun.
For those that want to go all out, you can make the theme as “Ancient Rome” as you want. Set up pillars and columns in the hall to make it look like a real Roman amphitheatre, and serve the kind of food that would have been served at a Roman party many long years ago.
Anything But Clothes
This is a hugely popular theme in the United States, and one that involves a lot of creativity. Basically, the guests have to wear anything but clothes – including plastic wrap, duct tape, leaves, paper plates, pool floats, beer boxes, bubble wrap, and anything else that isn’t clothing. It’s amazing to see what some people will come dressed in.
