Function Venues for your Employee Appreciation
In larger companies, employees do the same thing day in and day out. And while their job functions are often essential to the overall company health and final product, it can, at times, feel like a thankless job. Coming up with ideas on how to make employees feel appreciated on a large scale can often seem daunting. One good way to do this is to throw an appreciation event.
Studies have shown that corporate events geared towards employee appreciation can increase loyalty, reduce complacency and stress, and help to create and/or maintain a positive working environment. A lot of employees spend many hours during the week and weekend performing tasks related to their job. A little show of appreciation can go a long way.
The goal of the event should not be about work. It should be about creating a fun and engrossing day where staff can let off steam and not think about their daily tasks. It should not feel like a typical corporate function and should most definitely be casual.
It doesn’t even have to be a full day. The first part of the event can be dedicated to a meeting while the last half to fun and maybe a dinner or lunch served by members of the management or executive team.
When planning this type of event, it’s always nice to get out of the office. You spend 8 or more hours there daily and it doesn’t exactly lend itself to a relaxed atmosphere. Try holding it at an event centre that specializes in corporate functions and events, a restaurant, or park. Examine the company culture and determine if this is going to be a weekday event or weekend event. Hosting a corporate function of this nature on the weekend or in the evenings can allow for employees to bring their spouses, significant others, or other family members.
As for activities, the ages and interests of the group (whether it be just employees or employees and their family members) will determine what types of things are suitable. Whatever you decide, make sure there is plenty of space. Your function venue should be able to help you determine what and where things fit.
In the end, your goal should be to make your staff feel appreciated for everything they do. Taking the time to put together a well-planned get together will keep them talking about it and looking forward to the next one. In light of the benefits, a corporate event of this type should be considered money well spent.
As we slide into the holiday season, are you thinking about the best function venues to host your celebration and how getting out of the office to the right function venues can work for your next event
