Planning Your Melbourne Wedding to a Tee
Melbourne is a city where life is good! It’s a beautiful place to live, and it’s definitely a great place to settle down and start a family. Before you can do that, though, you’ve got to have your wedding day – the day where you celebrate your love with the man or woman of your dreams.
Planning a wedding can be a big deal, so here are some tips from our expert Red Scooter wedding planners on organizing the big day:
Tip #1: Choose the right season
Melbourne is absolutely gorgeous during the summer months, as the sun shines bright, the weather is warm, and the city looks beautiful. You can get married outdoors, and there’s no need to bundle up. Summer is the best season of the year in Melbourne, and the warm weather makes for wonderful weddings.
However, summer is wedding season in Melbourne, so the cost of planning your wedding is going to rise quite a bit if you MUST get married during the summer months. If you need to keep costs low, October and November are actually the best months. They may be a bit wet and chilly, but you can always have the wedding indoors. Budget-conscious couples will often go for off-season weddings during these two months.
Tip #2: Think about the flowers
If you absolutely HAVE to have a certain type of flower at your wedding, it’s best to find out when that flower is in season. Having huge centerpieces and garlands of flowers that are grown out of season can be very expensive, and could send your wedding way over-budget.
Not sure what type of flowers you want, much less when they’ll be in season? Visit a wedding planner to see your different flower options. Once you know what flowers you want for your floral arrangements, contact local florists to find out when they will be in season.
Tip #3: Don’t forget the weather
If you’re planning your wedding months in advance, there’s no way to be sure that the big day will be sunny and bright. Summer is a pretty rain-free time of year, but Melbourne can be rainy the rest of the year.
If you’re getting married during the off-season, remember that the weather could turn from beautiful and sunny one day to dark and rainy the next. You may want to consider having a backup venue handy, or else look for a wedding venue that offers both outdoor and indoor accommodations in the same facility. You never know when you may have to rush the wedding indoors to escape a thundercloud!
